– Muay Thai: This is a national sport is Thailand and is a form of Thai boxing. It is a full contact sport that includes hitting, kicking, cinching as elements of grappling. It also requires mental and strong physical technique to overcome an opponent.
– Mixed Martial Arts: MMA is an extreme combat sport in which contestants are permitted to use the fighting techniques of wrestling and boxing as well as those of martial arts such as kickboxing, judo, and karate.
– Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu: This Brazilian form of martial arts combines holds, chokes, joint manipulations and locking of joints as participants work to get superior positioning over their opponents. It has been around since 1925.
– Krav Maga: Israel’s national martial art is known as Krav Maga or contact combat in Hebrew. It combines moves like grappling from Jim-Jitsu and kicks and traditional boxing punches from karate. Is has been around since the 1930s and has gained popularity with the Israeli special police and security forces. There are very few rules, and it is quite a bit more violent than other types of martial arts.
